Yes, this breed is relatively young in Latvia. Relatively, because, in fact first Leo's was registered in Latvia in 1928 - two Leo's - Mars v.Burgwald and Wega v.Eppingen. After these two - no Leonberger dogs in Latvia till I brought my first Leo to Latvia from Norway in 2003, but he pass away in 2008, because of osteocarcinoma. Now we have 24 Leo's in Latvia. Not very much, but it is just a beginning. :)

Tak,leonbergery sa bardzo nowa rasa u nas.Co prawda pierwsze dwa zarejestrowane leonbergery byly u nas w 1928 roku-Mars v.Burgwald and Wega v.Eppingen .Po tych dwoch nie bylo zadnych poki nie przywiozlam swojego pierwszego leonbergera z Norwegii w 2003 roku -odszedl w 2008 roku .Teraz mamy 24 leonbergery w naszym kraju .Niewiele,ale bedzie wiecej,to dopiero poczatek

And you have allready club??Here to have a club we need signed piece of paper -100 people have to sign that want club and there was one try-but not many people signed.Well-we had petition about duty to test HD in leos for breeding-not many people signed it either
And you have 24 leos in your country and allready club.As I see you base on nice scandinavia lines -imports,so latvian leos in future (born in latvia) should be very nice

I juz macie klub??Tutaj zeby powstal klub musimy zebrac 100 podpisow -byla proba i sie nie udalo.No coz,wystosowalismy petycje o obowiazkowe badania HD przed dopuszczeniem do hodowli -malo osob podpisalo.A wy macie 24 leony w swoim kraju i juz macie klub.I jak widze basujecie na importach ze skandynawii -wiec leony kiedys urodzone u was pewnie beda wspaniale.

For Club establishing in Latvia, it is necessary 20 people. It is same, as you want to establish association or foundation. And!!!! - not a 20 dogs, but just 20 people. In present time we made an association together with Santbernan breed under Latvian FCI. That's because it is less expensive to be together when it is not very much dogs of these breeds. Now, when we are already 24, we are going to separate from Santbernan breed owners. According to Latvian FCI roles - each Leonberger dog should have x-ray tests on hips and elbows. All results are open in our Leonberger dogs data base, which are placed on our club web (www.leonbergerunion.lv). Without this test results it is not possible to breed dogs.

I think, we have 50:50 Scandinavian and Germany dogs.

Wow.Of course all clubs require HD test from leos and its like it should be.Here more and more breeder test HD-thought is not duty,maybe one day we will have a club
And probably one day will be worth to go for mating to Latvia or import puppie from your country -good imports,good quality leos which dont win just in your country but in other countries too .I am personally very impressed by this-such young history in country of breed and allready such high level of breed.
I liked very much Agassi - BOB winner of Warsaw show,Asterix is beautyfull too .

I would very much like to be in Poznan, but...I do not think we will . We are going as a big team from Latvia to Leonberg, 27.09., then we will be in Bratislava, 10.10., and my Dario first litter are coming in end of September in Finland , in addition, so, I am going to Finland after a puppy for Latvia. :), and that should be done twice - first when litter will be 6 weeks old, and then 8 weeks old...
